It’s the grizzly bears he’s come to see, year after year. The creek is their hunting ground, and they arrive like clockwork each season, drawn by the Sockeye salmon. He knows some of them by sight, each bear with its own subtle marks and unique presence.

With the quiet patience of someone who’s done this a thousand times, the Wildlifer sets up his equipment at the same spot along the creek while sitting comfortably in his boat. He watches for movement, the first sign that the bears are coming. Then, like clockwork, they appear.
