About The Wildlifer

Meet Eric Seemann

Most of us do not lead particularly wild lives. The most daring and dangerous thing we do on a typical workday is stapling. But inside all of us is a natural being, craving connection with the wild world and its amazing creatures.

We are not that far removed from our cave-dwelling ancestors. That’s why you sometimes want to reach across the boardroom table and hit Brad from accounting with a rock. It’s also why wilderness art is so wildly (pun intended) popular. Images of the natural world, and its spectacular abundance of life, inspire wonder, and awe, and a familiar sense of belonging. They remind us who we are.

We should, at this point, stress that we do not recommend or condone hitting people with rocks. There are better ways to reconnect with your wild side. Peering into the eye of an African elephant, for instance, and feeling the intelligence and sensitivity behind it. Or sneaking a glimpse of the maternal interaction between a caribou cow and her calf — timeless, tender, touching. These are experiences that reach us at our primal core, and take us back to a world we left a long time ago.

Eric Seemann is the photographer behind the lens of ES Wildlife Photo Images, and this is his world. A wild, wonderful world he shares through his vast collection of photographs. You will find a choice selection of those photographs on this site, images he hopes will bring you the joy, excitement, and beauty it has been his privilege to experience firsthand.

Growing up in British Columbia inspired Eric’s boyhood dream of becoming a professional wildlife photographer. BC’s natural bounty gave Eric endless opportunities to hone his craft. His unique blend of patience, passion, expertise and dedication is evident in the artistry of every shot. Eric’s lens is able to capture the drama and beauty in every moment. Many years, and hundreds of thousands of photos later, Eric’s dream continues to grow and evolve, as he travels the world to capture the spirit of nature through his camera lens.

"Catch of the Day" — Grizzly Bear Wildlife Print
from $99.00

Each year, as the seasons shift and the cold begins to settle in, the Wildlifer returns to the same quiet creek nestled deep within the wilderness. It’s the grizzly bears he’s come to see, year after year. The creek is their hunting ground, and they arrive like clockwork each season, drawn by the Sockeye salmon. He knows some of them by sight, each bear with its own subtle marks and unique presence.

With the quiet patience of someone who’s done this a thousand times, the Wildlifer sets up his equipment at the same spot along the creek while sitting comfortably in his boat. He watches for movement, the first sign that the bears are coming. Then, like clockwork, they appear.

The first one wades into the water, pauses for a moment, sensing the rhythm of the creek, then plunges his massive paws into the water, sending a splash that echoes through the trees. The Wildlifer captures the moment—each shot filled with the intensity of the bear’s concentration, the energy of the hunt as it unfolds.

As the day wears on, the bears come and go, each one taking its turn at the creek, fishing, feeding, and asserting its place in the delicate balance of the ecosystem. The Wildlifer captures them all, the images a testament to the passage of time, to the seasons that return like clockwork, to the grizzly bears who come back to the same creek each year, year after year.

"Bedded Down" — Bull Moose Wildlife Print
from $99.00

The bull moose settles into the golden meadow, his massive frame sinking into the soft earth, tired from the long day's battle. The crisp autumn air carries the scent of damp leaves and distant evergreens, while the last light of day casts a bronze glow over his broad, scarred antlers.

The rut has been relentless—challengers met, rivals tested, the echoes of clashing antlers still lingering in his mind. Now, for a moment, he rests. The work will soon begin again

"Whiskers" — Red Fox Wildlife Print
from $19.95

“Whiskers” is a red fox. A very playful and adorable red fox. A long day of ‘wildlifing’ in the Rocky Mountains was capped off by Whiskers pouncing out of the brush and going about fox business of hunting and playing (alot more playing than hunting). He settled in for a well deserved nap when the Wildlifer took this photo.

Whiskers is one of Eric’s favorite pictures. It is guaranteed to make you smile every day. Exclusive and never displayed prints are also available upon request.

"Bugle King" — Elk Wildlife Print
from $99.00

A beast of an Elk .
It was cool start to the day when the Wildlifer had this fantastic 9×7 elk show up in the Canadian Rockies

As the bull elk stands tall on the edge of a misty meadow, the crisp air catches his breath, and with each deep inhale and exhale, you can see the vapor rising in front of him like a cloud of steam. The early morning chill intensifies the raw power of his presence.

The stillness of the morning is broken by a long, drawn-out bugle—a sound so deep and powerful it seems to shake the very ground beneath him. The bugle echoes through the trees, as his chest expands with the force of the call. As the sound dies down, his breath hangs in the air in visible clouds, swirling around him, making his presence even more commanding. The air is thick with the raw energy of his primal power, and each exhalation mixes with the distant calls of other elk

As a heartfelt “thank you” for reading Eric’s bio (or any portion thereof), please enjoy this video of some delightful otters romping joyously through the woods.

For our money, romping otters are the best.
