A beautiful 4 year old grizzly that the Wildlifer spend several days with along the West coast of British Columbia.
This young, four-year-old clings to a jagged rock, its powerful claws digging into the barnacle-encrusted surface as it braces itself against the shifting tide. His name, given to him by the Widlifer, is Scout. The rock, slick and covered in clusters of barnacles and seaweed, glistens in the soft light of the low tide, and Scout’s fur, a mix of browns and golds, stands out against the textured stone. Its large paws grip the rock with surprising dexterity, careful not to slip on the wet surface, while its keen eyes scan the shoreline and the Wildlifer.
Despite its relatively small size compared to full-grown adults, there's a raw power in the way he clings to the rock. His body tenses with each shift of the tide, aware of the unpredictable force of the ocean, but it remains determined, clinging tightly to the rock in a quiet battle against nature’s pull.

Each year, as the seasons shift and the cold begins to settle in, the Wildlifer returns to the same quiet creek nestled deep within the wilderness. It’s the grizzly bears he’s come to see, year after year. The creek is their hunting ground, and they arrive like clockwork each season, drawn by the Sockeye salmon. He knows some of them by sight, each bear with its own subtle marks and unique presence.
With the quiet patience of someone who’s done this a thousand times, the Wildlifer sets up his equipment at the same spot along the creek while sitting comfortably in his boat. He watches for movement, the first sign that the bears are coming. Then, like clockwork, they appear.
The first one wades into the water, pauses for a moment, sensing the rhythm of the creek, then plunges his massive paws into the water, sending a splash that echoes through the trees. The Wildlifer captures the moment—each shot filled with the intensity of the bear’s concentration, the energy of the hunt as it unfolds.
As the day wears on, the bears come and go, each one taking its turn at the creek, fishing, feeding, and asserting its place in the delicate balance of the ecosystem. The Wildlifer captures them all, the images a testament to the passage of time, to the seasons that return like clockwork, to the grizzly bears who come back to the same creek each year, year after year.

A truly unique photograph that will have you feeling the power and spiritual moment that the Wildlifer experienced while taking the photograph. During a wildlifer adventure, the Wildlifer encountered this very rare white grizzly bear. It is believed to be the only white grizzly bear in North America. This bear possesses a recessive gene that causes the fur to grow white.
Photographed with a long lens, the Wildlifer was able to capture her coming up from the lake after having a drink of glacial water. Walking past him, then looking back, as if to say goodbye.

A very special morning and moment.
Bears are the “Wildlifer’s” favorite subjects and these 2 are special .
Their mother just released them and they are now on their own in life.
As they approach the Wildlifers viewing area, the fog wraps around the trees like a thick veil, softening the world into shades of gray. The air is cool on this September morning, heavy with moisture, and every step seems to carry their weight ever so quietly. Through this mist, two sibling grizzly bears emerge, their 3 year old teenager forms are just barely visible at first, like shadows moving through the fog.
The male is larger, his fur light and thick, the muscles rippling beneath it with each movement. His steps are confident, the weight of his massive paws press into the soft ground. Behind him, is the female sibling, she is feeling somewhat protected. Her fur is a light brown as well. Her eyes are wide and alert, constantly scanning the surroundings.
The older bear pauses, his ears flicking as a soft sound catches his attention, the younger one stays guarded behind the brother. He turns, eyes narrowing with a brief flicker of warning, before a low growl escapes him—being protective. She immediately scans the area, the curiosity in her eyes is unmistakable.
Their bond is clear—two siblings navigating the vast, wild world side by side, each step a reminder of the strength and bond shared between them as they continue their journey through life away from the mother.. The scene is timeless, a glimpse into the raw beauty of nature, where sibling connection and survival are intertwined, and the forest becomes both their playground and their sanctuary.

A story in it’s self….. true love and affection.
At this point these cubs are 3 years old and Mom had just weaned them off.
The month of September is prime fishing time for humans and grizzly bears.
It’s also the best time for the “Wildlifer” to be taking photographs of grizzlies along various creeks and rivers in British Columbia

It’s September and it’s fishing season for Grizzly bears as they enter the hyperphagia state.
Hidden in the soft, swirling fog of the morning, the Willifer crouches low, his camera steady in his hands. He’s positioned just far enough away to respect the grizzly’s space, yet close enough to capture the intimate moment between the mother bear and her cub. His eyes are trained through the lens, every movement calculated to avoid disturbing the serene scene unfolding before him. The grizzly mother stands on guard, her massive form looming over her cub, who is nestled contentedly beside her.
The fog blurs the edges of the scene, adding an ethereal quality to the image he’s composing, where the mother’s watchful eyes and the cub’s innocence are framed by the morning mist. The silence is thick and in this moment, the Wildlifer becomes a mere observer, humbled by the raw beauty and power of the wilderness.
The Wildlifer is aware of the delicate balance he must maintain between getting the shot, staying safe and using a long lens in order to keep an ethical distance.

Standing face-to-face with this incredible female grizzly bear, the Wildlifer feels a deep, primal fear, despite the years of experience and trust he’s built with her. The years spent photographing her and her four sets of cubs over 20 years have given him insight into her behavior, but nothing can fully prepare a person for the raw power and presence of such a majestic creature in close proximity.
There’s no mistaking the deep, ancient instinct that runs through her—this is a mother, fiercely protective and capable of immense strength. Her breath is heavy, almost rhythmic, as she stands tall, the wind stirring her fur, and the ground beneath her paws shifting as she sizes him up.
Despite the connection he feels with her from years of observing her life, the Wildlifer knows how unpredictable and dangerous she can be, especially with cubs in tow.
There is no room for doubt here—he’s a mere visitor in her world. The fear isn’t just physical; it’s an emotional understanding that this is a creature of nature, unrestrained and fully capable of protecting herself and her cubs in the blink of an eye.
In this moment, the Wildlifer’s years of experience, his trust in his instincts, and his knowledge of her habits don’t erase the fear, but they do give him the clarity to remain calm and aware. The fear is not of her as a creature, but of the uncontrollable unpredictability of nature itself. It’s a fear born of knowing the immense responsibility of standing in the presence of a wild animal who can shift from peaceful to protective in an instant.

The soft sounds of flowing water create an inviting backdrop as the grizzly bear wades into the crystal-clear Kitimat River, keenly focused on the shimmering silhouettes of chum salmon darting beneath the surface. Each calculated movement reveals the bear’s strength and grace, a magnificent creature in perfect harmony with its environment.
A natural collar of lighter tones adorns its neck, accentuating the powerful build of its torso. The striking contrast highlights the bear’s presence, making it a captivating subject for any observer.
It’s a beautiful fall morning in the Canadian Rockies, a powerful shape, moving slowly through the field. Her thick fur is matted with frost, and as she pauses, her breath billows in the cold air. For a moment, the Wildlifer simply watches, the camera in his hands. The bear is older now, perhaps a little slower, but still every bit the force of nature she has always been. He’s documented her life—each season, each change for 2 decades.

It’s an early, frosty morning in the Canadian Rockies
The world is still, the silence broken only by the crunch of frozen earth beneath the Wildlifers boots. A layer of white frost clings to the ground and coats every blade of grass as well as the towering trees that surround him.
Then, in a break in the trees, he spots her. A powerful shape, moving slowly through the field. Her thick fur is matted with frost, and as she pauses, her breath billows in the cold air. For a moment, the photographer simply watches, the camera in his hands. The bear is older now, perhaps a little slower, but still every bit the force of nature she has always been. He’s documented her life—each season, each change for 2 decades.
She moves again, slowly, deliberately, each step leaving a fresh print in the snow. The photographer raises his camera, his fingers steady despite the chill, capturing the quiet majesty of this ancient, untamed creature.

It’s a very foggy morning as the sun starts to rise over a creek full of sockeye salmon.
The mother grizzly bear and the grizzly cubs come out to fish the creek in preparation for hibernation as winter starts to set in.
In the soft, golden light of a foggy morning, the Wildlifer's favorite two sibling grizzly bears stand side by side at the edge of a vast valley, their powerful frames silhouetted against the mist that clings to the land. The thick fog drapes over the valley floor like a soft blanket, creating an ethereal glow that wraps around the bears as they quietly gaze out over the river below. It’s now fishing time and the bigger adult bears eat first. Their fur, thick and rich with shades of brown, catches the warm morning light, with streaks of golden highlights where the sun peeks through the haze.
One of the siblings sits a bit taller, its head slightly tilted as it watches the adults fishing below. The other, a bit smaller but equally majestic, its sharp eyes scanning the valley, alert to every sound in the quiet morning air. Together, they exude an unspoken bond—two creatures connected by the land, their shared history, and their wild instincts

The air was crisp, carrying the scent of damp earth and pine. Sunlight filtered through the towering evergreens, casting dappled patterns on the forest floor. In that serene space, a magnificent grizzly emerged, its powerful frame moving gracefully among the underbrush. The soft glow highlighted the rich browns and golds of its fur, making each hair glisten as if kissed by the sun.
As the bear paused to forage, it seemed unaware of the quiet observer nearby. The Wildlifer instinctively raised the camera to capture the moment. The interplay of light and shadow danced across the scene, framing the grizzly in a natural spotlight. It was a fleeting glimpse of nature's wonder. Each image taken was more than just a photograph; it was a connection to the wild, a reminder of the untamed spirit of British Columbia.

Steam rises from the female grizzly as she moves through the frost-covered landscape, her dark fur contrasting sharply with the crystalline white blanket beneath her paws. Each step she takes leaves a delicate imprint, a testament to her presence in this serene setting. The early morning light casts an beautiful glow, covering the evergreens in shades of orange and yellow, illuminating the rugged terrain of the Canadian Rockies.
The Wildlifer adjusts his lens, keenly aware of the fleeting beauty before him. The stillness of the morning is punctuated only by the soft crunch of frost under her weight and the distant rustling of trees as a gentle breeze passes through. The air is crisp and invigorating, filled with the promise of a new day.
The Wildlifer feels a profound connection to the land and its inhabitants. The frost-covered morning, the vibrant hues , and the powerful presence of the grizzly underscore the wonders of the Canadian wilderness—an experience cherished by those who venture into it.

This absolutely gorgeous Grizzly Bear was photographed by the Wildlifer in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. During the late summer and fall months, grizzly bears will often dig for, and consume nutrias roots as a large part of their diet.
Eric has affectionately named this Grizzly Bear “D9” for her expert ability to excavate dirt and rocks in large quantities and very efficiently. She is a very healthy repeat mother.
A statement piece of wilderness art for home or office. The detail and real life image will impress. 10/10
