In the stillness of the early morning, the Wildlifer sits quietly in his boat, drifting on the serene, glass-like surface of the lake. The air is cool, crisp, and filled with the gentle sound of lapping water. He watches intently, his eyes trained on the family of loons before him.
The parents, sleek and graceful, glide through the water with quiet purpose. The chicks, small and soft, cling to their mother's back. The sight is tender—a moment of new life, of nourishment and care.
The loons dip their heads, diving beneath the surface and emerging with grubs or fish, which they carefully bring to the chicks. The tiny chicks, still unsteady and vulnerable, eagerly peck at the green grub, their little beaks grasping the meal. The mother watches protectively as the chicks feed, keeping a watchful eye on the water around them.

The Wildlifer waited for this moment for years. The air is warm and his boat is ready, the surface of the lake still and like a mirror capturing the surrounding forest in its glassy depths. His eyes are scanning the horizon, when suddenly he spots it—there, on the water, the unmistakable silhouette of a loon.
But this isn’t just any loon. On its back, tucked safely between the elegant lines of its black-and-white plumage, are two tiny, fluffy chicks. Now out on his boat, the Wildlifer watches the mother’s careful, steady movements—she glides smoothly over the water, her eyes constantly scanning her surroundings. The chicks, contrasting with their mother’s sleek feathers, seem content and secure, nestled close to her in a perfect display of nurturing care.
It’s rare glimpse into the delicate bond between mother and chick. Each shot taken on this day is deliberate, capturing the loon's graceful movements across the water, the glint of sunlight catching the iridescent green and black of her feathers, and the tiny, wide-eyed chicks clinging to her back.
“ nothing more peaceful than this moment” — Eric

More often heard than seen!
This beautiful barred owl camouflages nicely with the grey and white tones of the forest. His attempt to hide behind one tiny branch was not fooling the Wildlifer.
(Just another bit of proof that the Wildlifer does not alter or photoshop any of his images).
The neutral colors of this very popular photograph fit into any decor. A very popular photograph for gifts, home and office. For the owl lover, we have this image printed on tote bags, home decor pillows, along with greeting cards that are available at any “Wildlifer” show/market

The Bohemian Waxwing feeds during the winter months on the Mountain Ash berries. The Wildlifer was able to capture the moment before this Bohemian Waxwing enjoyed the ‘fruits’ of its labor.
Perched on a twig with a gentle dusting of snow the surrounding branches, the bird catches a plump mountain ash berry, its vivid red hue standing out against dappled light. It’s a delicate time of play between bird and berry, suspended in the quiet of the winter landscape.
This work of art hails stunning clarity and detail. The colors presented are complimentary to many walls and decors and is a very popular choice.
To capture the precise moment with great composition, color and lighting takes time, patience and skill.

The Wildlifer settles quietly into his hiding spot beneath the pine trees of Alberta, his camera poised and mounted to the tripod. The afternoon light filters through the canopy, catching soft patches of sunlight. He’s spent hours in this secluded spot, waiting for the perfect moment.
Ahead, perched high on a gnarled branch, shaped as a heart, the two owls sit close together which is not common. They’re a pair—silent, yet their presence is magnetic. There’s something deeply tender about the scene, as though the forest itself is holding its breath, aware of this great moment.
The Wildlifer slowly raises his camera to his eye, he adjusts the lens, focusing in on the intricate details of the owls.. There’s excitement with each shot, knowing that this is a moment few get to witness—a raw, unguarded display of tenderness in the wild.

A close-up flyby of a Great Gray Owl reveals a striking image that captures the essence of this magnificent bird. Its large, round face, framed by intricate patterns of grey and white feathers, dominates the frame. The piercing yellow eyes, keenly observing its surroundings, exude an air of wisdom and intensity.
As the owl glides silently, the impressive wingspan showcases the delicate detail in each feather, from the soft down lining to the sharply defined wing edges. The subtle variations in colour, from charcoal to lighter shades, create a captivating contrast against the natural backdrop.
This moment encapsulates the sheer beauty and grace of the Great Gray Owl, allowing the viewer to appreciate the intricacies of nature in its purest form. It’s a powerful reminder of the wildlife that flourishes in Canada’s vast wilderness.

A delicate hummingbird flies into view, its wings a blur of motion as it hovers near the vibrant blooms of a rose bush. The roses, their soft petals a deep, rich red, moist from the previous rain, filling the air with a subtle fragrance that seems to whisper of memories. The bush itself stands tall and proud, though its beauty is marked with an almost sacred stillness, as if it holds a quiet connection to something beyond this world.
The hummingbird approaches the flowers with great care, its tiny body almost weightless as it hovers, a soft buzz filling the air. It moves with graceful precision, its beak ready to dip into the rose’s center, to draw nectar from the blossoms that stand as a living tribute to the Wildlifer’s late wife.
Each gentle movement of the bird is mirrored by the silent, poignant symbolism of the roses—perhaps a reminder of the love, the memory, and the fleeting nature of time. As the hummingbird hovers, there’s a sense of peaceful reverence in the air, as if the bird is part of something much deeper, something that speaks of remembrance, loss, and the beauty that lingers even in the absence of the beautiful wife Rose.
The Wildlifer, watching nearby, feels a quiet sense of connection to both the roses and the bird—a moment of healing, of love preserved in the delicate balance of nature.

The air was crisp and filled with the scent of the ocean as the Wildlifer stood quietly, taking in the breathtaking landscape of Stewart, B.C. Perched atop a towering old beam, once part of a dock, a majestic American bald eagle commanded attention with its striking white head and regal presence.
As the eagle surveyed its surroundings, the blurred outlines of distant mountains and wispy clouds formed a perfect backdrop, enhancing the grandeur of the moment. Each detail—from the vivid contrast of the eagle’s feathers to the subtle hues of the natural scenery—came together in perfect harmony.

In the midst of a heavy snowfall, a great grey owl perches gracefully on a sturdy branch, its massive, round face framed by the soft, silvery feathers that give it a ghostly, ethereal appearance. The air is thick with falling snowflakes, each one landing gently on the owl’s feathers, adding a soft layer to its already immaculate plumage. Its large, yellow eyes gleam with quiet focus as it carefully inspects its sharp talons, methodically pruning them.
Two Steller's Jays sit perched together on a snowy day, their striking blue feathers contrasting vividly against the white backdrop. The snowfall blankets the landscape, creating a serene winter scene. The jays, likely mates, maintain close proximity to each other, their heads occasionally tilting in unison as they survey their surroundings. Their playful chirps break the tranquil silence, echoing through the stillness of the snow-covered forest. Each movement is cautious yet graceful, as they occasionally preen one another, reinforcing their bond in the chill of the day. Together, they embody the spirit of resilience and companionship, a testament to their survival in the frosty wilderness.
Perched on a snow-covered evergreen branch, a young Short-Eared Owl gazes out with wide, bright yellow eyes that seem to shimmer against the cold, crisp winter air. Its fluffy, round face is framed by a soft collar of feathers, and its plumage is a mix of light brown and cream, blending with the snow around it. The owl’s small ears not noticeable—are tucked beneath its soft feathers, adding to its adorable, almost comical appearance. The snow, gently collecting on the evergreen's branches, dusts its feathers, giving a magical aura against the tranquil, frosty backdrop of the winter landscape.

Perched high on a snow-covered evergreen branch, the great grey owl faces the Wildlifer with an unwavering, serious gaze. The deep, knowing look seems to pierce through the falling snowflakes, as though it sees far beyond the lens, into a realm of wisdom and mystery.
The surrounding forest, blanketed in thick snow, is hushed, and even the wind seems to hold its breath. The owl sits perfectly still, its powerful body almost motionless except for the occasional slight adjustment of its head, keeping its focus steady. The snow on the evergreen branches around it has settled into a perfect, white dusting, contrasting with the darkness of the owl’s feathers. The serious look it gives is both striking and unnerving—there's a sense of quiet judgment in its eyes, as if it’s silently evaluating the Wildlifer.

Great Grey Owl at Sunset with the Wildlifer
A great grey owl perches precariously on a slender branch, its impressive wings and rounded body lending an air of majesty, even as the branch bends under its weight. The tree's arm is almost feeble, a delicate contrast to the sheer size of the bird, which seems almost too large for such a fragile support. Soft orange hues spill across the sky, filtering through the clouds and casting a warm glow on the owl's mottled feathers, enhancing the intricate patterns that cloak its form.
