Silhouette Elk - Canadian Rockies

Elk in the Fall months are a majestic sight. This bugling Bull Elk is making it well known to competitors that this is his territory and the herd of females belongs to him alone. Of course, that is always subject to dispute in the wild. Dominance and superiority are always up for challenging.

This photograph was taken at dusk while high in the Canadian Rockies in very rugged terrain.
