Highway to Heaven - Aurora Borealis
A beautiful show of Northern Lights on the Cassiar Highway 37-A.
This Aurora night made history May 10th of 2024….. it was described as phenomenon in strength not seen for many years .
The Wildlifer was driving along a stretch of the Cassiar Highway (37-A), the road flows through the dense, quiet wilderness of northern British Columbia. The world outside the vehicle is cloaked in shadow, the towering “Entrance Peak” silhouetted against the starlit sky. The hum of the engine and the rhythmic sound of tires on asphalt are the only sounds as the Wildlifer weaves through the solitude of the highway, immersed in the vastness of the wilderness.
The sky is alive, but not with the familiar greens and reds of the aurora borealis. Instead, the sky is awash in a deep, ethereal purple—a vibrant, glowing light shooting out of the rugged mountains ahead.
In the stillness of the northern night, the sight feels impossibly surreal. The northern lights, rare and magical, are a gift—this purple display, though, is something entirely unexpected, an unusual rarity that feels like the universe is showing off. The stars are now hidden behind the colorful display, the air thick with the energy of the aurora, and the Wildlifer can hardly believe the beauty unfolding above him.
